It was a very small village of poor fishermen until a few years ago. Now lots of hotels, night clubs, restaurants, shops and boutiques have completely transformed the ancient village.
The volcanic coastline is world-famous because of its "Faraglioni", very big lava rocks rising from the sea facing Aci Trezza, which according to the legend of Homer, were hurled against Ulysses’ ships by the blinded Cyclop Polyphemus.

A very interesting excursion is the visit to Aci Castello’s Norman Castle built on the top of a lava crag formed as a result of a submarine eruption.
Aci Trezza is also an ideal point to visit the neighbouring town of Catania.
